How to find out whether anyone will pay for your idea, in one afternoon

Mission II of the First Dollar campaign. Five people who do not know you, each shown a price, each saying yes or no.

Every campaign starts at Mission I, which is playable at the bottom of this page.

Mission · Act III

Ask Five Strangers

Get five people who do not know you to say they would pay.

ProofTheir replies.

Clock48 hours from the moment you accept it.

What counts as proof

  • Five replies from five different people
  • People who did not know your name last week
  • A reply that names your price and says yes to it

What does not

  • Friends, family, colleagues or your own followers
  • Likes, follows, “great idea”, “let me know when it launches”
  • A survey with a five-point scale

The usual route

How players pass this one.

The game master does not grade the route. It grades what you come back with.

  1. 01

    Go where they already are

A forum, a subreddit, a Facebook group, a trade WhatsApp, a street with the right shops.

  2. 02

    Ask one question, not five

“I am charging €40 for this. Would you pay that?” Nothing before it, nothing after it.

  3. 03

    Name the price first

A yes without a price attached is not a yes. It is politeness, and it will not pay you.

  4. 04

    Ask ten to get five

Silence is normal and it is not a verdict. Only a reply is a reply.

  5. 05

    Screenshot everything

Including the people who said no. A clean no is worth more than a vague yes.

The usual failures

Proof that got rejected, and why.

Written by the game master from its own rules, not yet by players.

Proof

Rejected

A screenshot of 40 likes on my post about the idea.

Likes are not replies, and nobody in that screenshot was shown a price.

Ask five people directly, with the number in the message. Resubmit.

Proof

Rejected

Three friends and my brother said they would definitely buy it.

Your brother is not a stranger. He is protecting your feelings, and it works.

Ask five people who have never met you. Resubmit.

Proof

Rejected

12 people filled in my survey and 80% said they were interested.

“Interested” is not “I would pay €40”. A survey is where a yes goes to hide.

Message five of those 12 with the price and ask for a yes or a no. Resubmit.

Proof

Rejected

“Great idea, let me know when it launches.”

That is a polite no. It commits nothing, names no price and costs them nothing.

Reply asking whether they would pay €40 today. Then send four more. Resubmit.

Proof

Rejected

I posted in 6 groups and got 2 replies, both positive.

Two is not five, and “positive” does not tell the game master what they agreed to.

Get three more, and show the message where each of them saw the price. Resubmit.

What accepted looks like

Accepted

Five messages, five different names, each shown the €40 price. Four yes, one “yes if it includes the report”.

Five strangers, one price, and one who negotiated instead of agreeing.

Mission III — Publish The Page. That negotiator is your first customer. Keep the thread.

Mission 1 of 12 · free

Start at Mission I. It takes six minutes.

One sentence, a real stamp, no account. Nothing here is simulated.

Mission · Act II

Declare The Target

One sentence: what you sell, who pays you, how much.

ProofThe sentence.

Three verdicts per mission per day. No account, no card.

What counts as proof

  • One sentence, in your own words
  • A price with a number in it
  • A payer you could go and find this week

What does not

  • A market, a category or a niche
  • “Affordable”, “premium”, “to be decided”
  • Anything you would put in a pitch deck

Most sentences are rejected the first time. That is the game working, not you failing.
